Install the free myIKONN app and you can use compatible IKONN scales, thermometers and measuring tools with your BlindShell. Measurements are spoken clearly through your phone, and built-in audio help is available when you need instructions - all in your chosen language. The myIKONN app works exactly like any built-in BlindShell app, so everything is intuitive and simple.
Everything in the IKONN eco-system is designed and tested with the needs of reduced vision users in mind, so it all works together seamlessly.
What can I use IKONN for with my BlindShell phone?
Using IKONN products you can independently do more things at home than ever before, giving you access to everyday measuring tasks through one consistent system.
Weigh kitchen ingredients with the SK-1 Kitchen Scale. Zero out the weight of glasses and bowls. Measure the volumes of a wide range of common ingredients, so you can now measure 300 mL of rice. Switch between metric and imperial units depending on your recipe.
Weigh yourself with the SB-1. Enter your height to have your BMI calculated automatically and switch between different units. With the tare function in the app, you can also use it as a baggage or package scale — hop on once to measure yourself and then hop on again with your package. Simple.
Take clothing and body measurements with the flexible MT-1 Tape Measure. Use it to measure items in the home and use the unique circumference function to perform measurements such as chest measurements for clothing.
Cook food safely and monitor food or oven temperature with the TK-1 Kitchen Thermometer. Use it on the BBQ grill or the oven. Be alerted when your dish reaches the desired temperature.
Monitor your home environment with the TI-1 Room Thermometer/Hygrometer.
Measure your body temperature with the TF-1 Infrared Thermometer. Measure forehead, ear and object temperatures effortlessly.

IKONN products connect wirelessly to either the IKONN Controller or the myIKONN app on your smartphone or BlindShell phone. Measurements are converted into clear spoken information in your language.

Using a product is straightforward:
1. Download myIKONN from the BlindShell App Catalog.
2. Start the app.
3. Turn on your IKONN product.
4. Add the product in myIKONN.
5. The product will then appear in the main menu whenever you start the app.
When you take a measurement, the information is converted into clear spoken feedback in your language.
You might have tried using some kind of smart device with TalkBack or VoiceOver before. You have probably also tried fighting with connection problems or incomplete support for VoiceOver as well. FAQ
Are any features missing from the BlindShell version of the app?
Not at all! All functionality in the Android version of myIKONN is also available on BlindShell. Some small details in how the app works have been adjusted to make it intuitive and familiar for BlindShell users.
What products are supported?
The app currently supports the following products:

The only product in the IKONN range that is not currently supported by the app is the CS-1 Colour and Light Sensor, which is a plug-in module for the IKONN Controller.
Do I need to buy an IKONN Controller to operate the products with the myIKONN app?
No! The IKONN Controller is designed for convenience when operating several IKONN products and includes a number of additional functions, but it is not required to operate any of the products using the myIKONN app. You can connect the products directly with your BlindShell phone and operate them. If you have many IKONN products though, as a blind user you might one day decide to buy a Controller too, as the most convenient way of operating them.
Will the myIKONN app support future IKONN products?
Yes! Future IKONN products will also be supported, and we plan to release new features on iOS, Android and BlindShell at approximately the same time. There may sometimes be a difference of one or two weeks because of testing and app review processes on each platform.
Are there any other updates or other changes needed on the BlindShell phone?
No. You download the myIKONN app from the BlindShell App Catalog in the usual way. Run the app, turn on an IKONN product and add it immediately. After that, the product will appear in the main menu of the myIKONN app whenever you start it.
My husband already has an IKONN Controller and the myIKONN app on an iOS device. Can I use the BlindShell version of the app with the same kitchen scale?
Yes, multiple devices can share the same IKONN product, though not at the same time. IKONN products such as the kitchen scale or callipers can only send readings to one device at a time. The same product can therefore be used with an IKONN Controller, a BlindShell phone and an iPad, but only one of these devices can be connected and speaking at any point.
What languages are supported?
The myIKONN for BlindShell app supports Arabic, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Icelandic, Italian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish and Ukrainian.
